Prints inspired by the natural world

Lizzie Wheeler

Inspiration for my work comes from the natural world, the creatures who inhabit it, and a desire to capture the moments of wonder that are experienced in wilder places.

I enjoy working in a stylised and figurative way, paying close attention to form and colour.  I love the process of crafting something by hand, and the energy and sense of connection that it brings.

I come from a family of crafts-people;  potters, engineers, print-makers, painters, carpenters, garden designers, and seamstresses.  I grew up immersed in a world of making, and the excitement and joy that it brought me as a child has never left.

I work part-time as a technician at the Oxford Printmakers Co-operative, and am a member of the Oxford Art Society.
