Frances Hatch and Mariella Baldwin: West Dean: Place Inspiration Creativity

Frances Hatch started to teach at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation in 1990. “Not only has my life been enriched by the people I have met... but the land itself draws me back. We have come to know each other.” This exhibition celebrates Frances’ 30-plus year relationship with West Dean.
Mariella Baldwin has been a tutor at West Dean since 2000. The glorious West Dean Gardens are a valuable source of inspiration for her Short Courses in Botanical Painting.
The internationally famous West Dean College of Arts and Conservation is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its opening. The College is based at West Dean House in the heart of the South Downs north of Chichester. It is owned and run by the Edward James Foundation which was established by the former owner of the estate, the poet and collector Edward James,
