POLLY DUTTON

“Perceptions can be deceptive. Our landscape, like the human spirit, can appear strong and invincible. However, sometimes we only need to scratch the surface to appreciate the vulnerability and fragility of such apparent strength.”

Many of Polly’s works are on a large scale, but for autumn/winter 2024: a series of ‘Little Gems’, joyful small paintings in oil on board, priced at just £195.

POLLY DUTTON

Polly Dutton endeavours to capture the elements; sun, wind, rain and the effect these have in the landscape. The mark making is spontaneous and she uses various mediums to create work that is vibrant, energetic and atmospheric. She enjoys using a strong, recurring motif that abstracts the images into rhythmical patterns of colour, contrast and tone.

Dutton usually works by visiting the landscape a number of times, creating pencil and charcoal sketches to inform the final work. She will then work to finish the work in her studio. Dutton also may work quickly and spontaneously in the landscape to capture the changing light and create a painting in one session.

In 2017/2018 Dutton was the Artist in Residence at Parham House and Gardens, West Sussex.

Dutton’s work is with collectors throughout the UK, and in the USA and Australia.
