Kate Rhodes: A Journey of Colour
13 - 29 November 2025
Private view Thursday 13 November
Friday 14 November 11 am Artist’s Talk by Kate Rhodes:
“Sharing my process, my palette and my connection to place” (book here)
Kate Rhodes is a British landscape artist who draws inspiration from her surroundings, whether at home or on her travels. The paintings in this exhibition draw upon travels in Morocco, France and India, as well as her home in Suffolk.
“I aim to give my art both ‘roots’ and ‘wings.’ Sketching in the different landscapes connects me to a location and informs my practice but in the studio I want to work spontaneously. My process starts with play, so that I find rather than make my work. I go on painterly adventures, intuitively exploring colour, shapes and layers of mark making to blend realism with abstraction that connects to the feeling of a place.”
A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art in the 1989, Kate is a full-time artist living in Suffolk. In addition to her painting she enjoys sharing her experience and has run art workshops from her studio for a number of years and recently became a coach for the American Art2Life Academy in California.
